Dr. Lucie Berthiaume is a graduate from the University of Waterloo where she received her Doctorate of Optometry in 1988. Before her optometry career, Dr. Berthiaume was a certified Respiratory Therapist and specialized in neonatal care at the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Dr. Berthiaume became a partner with Dr. Gordon Young in 1994, at the Barrhaven Optometric Centre where she enjoys a full scope practice in all aspects of primary care optometry: from pediatrics to post-cataract care as well as contact lenses to pre and post laser vision correction care. She received her training in therapeutic pharmaceutical agents in 1994 from the Northeastern State University, College of Optometry, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dr. Berthiaume is a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ontario College of Optometrists where she has served on the Children’s Vision and Standards of Practice committees. She has also been active with the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. She has been involved in numerous clinical trials dealing with contact lens material research, contact lens solutions and dry eye care.

Dr. Berthiaume is from Ottawa where she grew up in the west end. Her husband Ray, and children Élise, Sophie and Benoit enjoy many sports together and community activities. She is currently an active volunteer with the Guid’amies franco-canadiennes.
