Everyone Wins

If you had been into our Barrhaven location during the month of October you may remember the paper eyeballs that were stuck around the reception area, or maybe you were asked by one of our staff members if you would make a donation during your eyewear purchase, or maybe you saw a post on social media - but what was that all about?

Barrhaven Optometric is proud to have participated in the 2018 World Sight Day Challenge for Optometry Giving Sight. Our office donated $2 from every pair of glasses sold in the month of October - which totaled $760. You guys, our wonderful patients, donated $715 of your own hard earned money to those in need which inspired Dr. McIntosh, Dr. Hardy and Dr. Graham to go above and beyond by matching your donations! This meant a grand total of $2190 was donated to Optometry Giving Sight!

Through participating in the World Sight Day Challenge, you have contributed towards transforming the lives of the over 1.2 billion people who are blind or vision impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses.

Optometry Giving Sight is a global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses. 1.22 billion people are unnecessarily blind or vision impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye examination and appropriate glasses; including tens of millions of children with uncorrected myopia.Your donations allow Optometry Giving Sight to fund the solution by supporting programs that:

  •     Train – local eye care professionals

  •     Establish – optometry schools and vision centers for sustainability

  •     Deliver – eye care and low cost glasses.

Thank You! Thank you! Thank you!
